What To Do ???

Postby Hombre0321 » Sun Jan 24, 2010 4:53 am

My little F-1 pick-up has always been a problem truck. It is one of the very few "Hot Rods" I ever haved owned that I didn't build myself. Sense I aquired this truck it has been just one thing after another. I have spent dozens and dozens of hours working on it, and still I don't really trust it to really go anywhere. It is a beautiful truck, but a real piece of crap. As soon as I fix one thing its another thing going wrong.

It is a 351W powered C-4 Tranny equipted truck, with a 9" Rear. I have replaced the tranny, and most of the rear end, actually the housing is the only part I haven't had to replace. So last week I decided to redo all of the running gear. I have a 330" Desoto Hemi, with a 700R4 Tranny and I am going to use those. Both the tranny and the Hemi are fresh. As I got into this swap and in the removing of the front clip, I noticed that every wire on the truck, no matter which circuit is all the same color--- Brown., So I am going to rewire the truck at the same time. Question I have is which Company's wiring do you guys recommend ? Seems like the choices boil down to two Painless and Ron Francis. Is there another Company out there I ought to know about?

Thanks Guys Roland

I have a 55 F100..I used EZwire kit. Back when I bought my kit, all the wires were black with labeling every 6". I thought the labeling idea was great. Now, I believe they have the same kit with color coded wires...much better. Although, I'm not going to change mine now. You'll be happy once you do the wire job....it says in my instruction manual "don't be afraid"...it's not bad at all..just follow the instructions and you'll be fine. You can always post here for help. Good luck

Thanks arizaino, I did a little more research and went with a complete wiring kit from "Rebel Wire" They came very well recommended and in talking with them they seemed to be very cool folks. Time will tell, harness and module wont be here until next week.

Here's a few shots of that big Old Hemi finding a new home. Slid in there and looks like it belongs...

First shot is the 351W still there, then the hole left when you pull it, and then the Hemi
